Hard-Drive Question

I'm just wondering if a faulty hard-drive on a laptop can cause the laptop to power on for a few seconds then turn off?

I recently paid for a computer shop to fit a new motherboard for my laptop (£130) because of the same problem but it's occurred again and a Independent computer expert said to me i have a faulty hard-drive.. but how did it work when i picked it up from the shop?

Thanks any computer experts!

unlikely, you could prove it either way by removing the drive

This is the same problem I have..
  • Are there any beeps, any lights flashing or staying completelly on(such as the hard drive access light)? How far into boot does it get before cutting out?

By the time you're spending £130+ on a laptop it very quickly much more economical to buy a new one which will be much faster too.

<1 year old you should be sending it off for a free warranty repair

Quotations of £130+ for an old laptop = new laptop time

ESPECIALLY if you're talking about a PC world 'overpriced and crap in the first place' own brand unit you've linked to above
