Hi, it is going to cost me and my hubby £50 to travel to London on the overground and underground and when we lived in Essex we used to drive about 50 mins to an underground instead, so my question is does anyone know the nearest underground station to sittingbourne, Kent that has good parking?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Beckton or New CrossThe greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

You're not really on the best side of London to do this.
I don't know Beckton but from trips past the New Cross stations I can't think of a car park, I could well have missed it, the internet will tell you.
How about North Greenwich?
Not sure what time you'll be travelling but am sure a mate spends about £20 on an off peak travelcard from Sittingbourne. Although, for the two of you, that's not a big difference to the £50 you mentioned.0 -
I would guess the nearest underground stations are London Bridge south of the Thames and Upminster north - so you may still be driving to the same place as you did when in Essex.0

The SE of London has very few underground stations.
I'd imagine you would be better off driving to one of the Greater London towns that are inside the zones and catch overground to central London using a travelcard/ oystercard.
Beckton to Bank would take 27 minutes via the DLR where as Bromley South to Victoria is only 17 minutes via overground. The difference of zone 1-3 and zone 1-5 isn't massive in ticket price0 -
Thank you everyone. I will look into these options although I can't see anywhere to park at new cross either. Bromley sounds a good bet. I used to drive to Newbury park or gants hill. I have looked at the train prices again and if we take our two children it's cheaper! Figure that one out!RISEABOVEHATE

Are you talking about weekdays or weekends? Which line do you need?
New Cross is a nasty traffic bottleneck and I don't know if any parking is available. North Greenwich might be an option, but beware of traffic building up to use the Blackwall tunnel.
The new(ish) Overground line might be worth considering as there are a few stations in SE London. There's also Woolwich Arsenal and the DLR.
However, as others have said, you're probably best off getting an overland train from further out.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0
