returning an item to amazon...

You can reorder immediately as it is certain that they will either a) agree it is faulty and refund you the cost and the postage or b) disagree it is faulty but allow you to return it under the "just changed my mind" claus in which case you pay the postage.
Just out of interest, I returned a parcel of books just before christmas that I had ordered for presents and then was unimpressed with them when they came (the content wasn't as great as it sounded). I returned them just because I didn't like them - as you can with Amazon and they refunded my money minus the return postage with no problems.
I say "minus the return postage" because I used their freepost return label - I hesitated as I didn't know whether this would turn out massively expensive compared to the £4.90 I was quoted by the post office to send it recorded parcel or whatever it was.... Nice suprise then when I did opt for the freepost, to find that it had just cost £1.20 under their postage!!!! So, always return with the freepost label and have that deducted from the refund (this is of course if you just decide you don;t like it - if it is faulty, they are responsible for the postage).
ohh blue thanks that has put my mind to rest... i have already re-orderedi havent got a freepost label to send it back so i will have to do it recorded delivery... if they agree with me that it is damaged (which it is otherwise i would keep it) will they refund the postage costs because this book is rather heavy

I sent back two books to Amazon by Special Delivery which because of the weight was the cheapest method. Both books had pages missing which was a manufacturing fault. I received a refund on the amount paid and the Special Delivery cost.
If there are any problems Amazon are pretty good.
I also had to return a faulty electronic item which I received by courier and I returned by courier at no cost to myself.0 -
OK. Don't pay for postage yourself! If you go to their website and follow "returns" it links up with your account and you can print a pre-paid/freepost label to stick on the box (it also has a bit that goes inside). This a) notifies them that you are returns items b) the item is trackable - the post office gives you a receipt thingy and also taps into the cheaper postage that I mentioned above. I like it this way as its all their responsibility -you have done exactly what they asked you in order to return the items.0
