nPower - confusing you into switching?

Hi there, I'm a newbie, so hope this is the right place for this post!
I'm not sure how to take the incident I experienced today. nPower rep tried to confuse me into switching my supplier, and I'd like to complain about him, but I didn't get his name.
He didn't actually tell me what he was trying to do i.e. get me to switch, he just tried to make me think I didn't know what I was talking about. (I was on my own with my baby, so he probably thought he could make a few quid commission) I had to actually say to him "Are you trying to make me switch supplier?" before he said that's what he was doing!
Should I complain? I just feel like he was a bit pushy, and tried to confuse me by not explaining himself without me actually asking him.
I live in a block of flats, and we have a sign on the main door into the building that we don't accept cold callers, so someone let him in. I'm putting a sign up on our front door so we don't get any more of these guys coming round.
Hopefully this post makes sense to someone!
Thanks

Hi there, I'm a newbie,
Welcome to the ForumShould I complain?
Up to you, but well done for keeping alert.
Personally I suggest you move on and concentrate on deciding yourself whether you want to switch. Play around with a comparison website.0 -
Thanks!Welcome to the Forum
Thanks again!Up to you, but well done for keeping alert.
The guy seemed genuinely surprised when I said no, he said "I was just trying to save you some money", and I thought no, you're trying to make yourself some money!
I think we'll stick with SE, we get a pretty good deal, fixed DD, which I'm going to increase for winter and to incorporate the fuel increase. From what I've seen, we pay a lot less than a lot of people, so we'll stick for now!0 -
Hi, stay clear of instore reps. and cold callers on your doorstep, they are usually working for a company contracted to the supplier and are only interested in one thing.......commission.
Do a bit of research on comparison sites and pick your own tariffs then check on quidco/topcashback for any available cashbacks.
I would not give these 'salesmen' the time of day.0 -

Spot on.
I had one at my door once, and when I pointed out he was in a no cold calling zone he said "well, I've just signed up the chap across the road." Must admit I was a bit stuck for a reply to that!
I am just polite but firm with the odd few that try knocking at the door and tell them I'm not interested in whatever they're selling, especially when they start with the statement that they're not trying to sell me something.
People do get sucked in to these type of callers though. Should be banned altogether.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. How do you know if you don't compare it?
2 minutes work on a comp site with your annual kWh consumption figures is all it takes.
Comparing yourself with others is irrelevant, as their pattern of usage may be entirely different to yours. No free lunch, and no free laptop

If you want an email address at Npower to complain, PM me. Its worth a couple of minutes pasting most of your forum post into an email with your address and the outcome will tell others if its worth it.0
