Things to do near pontins pakefield

Has anybody got any ideas of things to do near pontins pakefield, i know about pleasurewood hills, we have 3 children 2 girls aged 8 & 9, and 1 boy aged 15 months, it needs to be as cheap as possible, as we are there for 7 days, and only have around £300 to take with us, also the 2nd problem and 1 i feel will take up most of the cash, is the 2nd 4 days is fine as we booked that through the sun and it is half board so eating wont be a problem, but as being as we live in somerset and pakefield is in norfolk we thought 4 days was not enough so wanted to extend, only problem was the price could not afford it, but then as luck would have it we got an email from pontins offereing a really good price so we booked the 3 days before to turn it into a weeks holiday, to only realise after booking the extra 3 days it was on a room only basis, and as being as pakefield is a half board resort only there will be no cooking facilities in the rooms, so we need to be able to eat as cheaply as possible for the first 3 days as i say it will be coming out of our weekly budget, i can see a few days of just sitting on the beach coming up i think:eek:, but would be grateful of any suggestions

TIA

  • Just rejoined mse so I could post a reply to you. I live in pakefield. Firstly, hopefully you will have a car, so you can go to pizza hut which is near pontins and easy to find. They do some £5 deals and kids eat free. You can also go to Morrisons opposite pizza hut and they do kids eat free with a paying adult, even on their offer meal. We have a Harvester in North Lowestoft, which is a ten minute drive and also we have 3 winelodges. These both do cheap meals. For days out, if you drive, go to Wroxham Barns, little bit of a drive but good day out and fairly cheap. Lots of lovely walks in our area. Indoor play area, Adventure Island, on same Industrial Estate near Pontins. Go to Oulton Broad, Nicholas Everitt Park, not far and go to pets corner, good price and kids get to touch the animals. Carlton Marshes, about 2 miles from Pontins is really good with Dyke dipping and activity days. If you get desperate, there is always Great Yarmouth sea front which is full of life with a fun fair and amusments. Bowling at Lowestoft Family Bowl, I think they do midweek offers. Africa Alive very good but very expensive, and never seen any discount tickets. Hope this helps. We have three children too and always have to live to a budget so very hard to find things to do. Have a great time and I wish we were going to Somerset.

I am hoping as long as we can make the cash stretch past the weekend woth the eating(which with your suggestions should not be a problem, i work for morrisons and forgot about the kids eat free:o, but that is only mon-fri, but that will be fri sorted, pizza hut for sat:D) then was hoping to do 1 big day, and it was gonna be a toss up between africa alive and pleasurewood hills, as we went to caistor a couple of years ago and wanted to do africa alive and pleasure wood hills but could only afford one of them, so we chose pleasurewood hills for the kids, as i used to go to great yarmouth as kid every year and stay at seashore, and went to pleasurewood hills each time and rmebered loving it, but to be honest was quite dissapointed with it when we went 2 years ago, mind you that is probably because i aint a kid anymore:D, but it did seem expensive for what it was, so hopefully will be able to do africa alive this year, did say to the mrs a couple of weeks ago that if weather was fairly decent we would probably have to have a couple of dasys at the beach and let the kids dig for their lives so will give pearsoneys suggestion a try for 1 day at least:D

Check this out for Africa Alive tickets. http://www.tescozootickets.co.uk/
Buy two Goodness products from tesco & get a child ticket free with a paying adult. Should help keep the cost of your holiday down.

thanks for that, just been and brought 2 packs of fruit, and 2 ready meals, ready meals eaten tonight and fruit can go with us on holiday:D, cost about £7 which in my eyes is expensive for what you get, but in the long run should save us about £19 and will get us a decent day out, thanks again:beer:

Done gorleston beach today, got the sunburn to prove it;), your right it was lovely and what made it even better was the free parking, loads of spaces, mind you we did get there about 10am, by dinner there was nowhere to park, but thought that was good, as nowadays if the councils could charge you for walking on the pavement they would:eek:, so to find a beach like that with plenty of free parking was a pleasant surprise, also did find the play area, only because of you saying it was difficult to find, so kept looking up from the beach area and saw what looked liked the top of a ships mast so took kids up to find out what it was, only to find the play area:D, thankd=s for the suggestion it was great and saved us some money:T

Dont go to Africa Alive, unless its changed recently i went about 3 years ago and it wasn't very good left after 2 hours

Pleasurewood Hills is good tho, plenty to do and there is a Circus show at 2pm, and also a parrot show and sea lion shows throughout the day and lots of rides, discount vouchers in the tourist information, there was a BOGOF in one of the booklets when we went recently, we got there at opening and were the last ones out at 5pm :)

We did go to Africa, but realised when we drove up to it that we had been about 3 years ago also, so turned around and went to dinosaur adventure(mainly for our 18 month old, whose bedroom is decorated in dinosaurs), mind you that was expensive for what it was, also did pleasurewood hills 3 years ago and to be honest was not impressed with that at all, not like I remember it as a kid that is for sure, if we get another decent day we may do pettitts as it is relatively cheap compared to the rest around

    hi

don't forget that even if you are room only you can take cereals for breakfast and take milk in a cool box, and buy bread rolls, butter ham, cheese, salad to make a packed lunch.....
