Hi All

The screen of our laptop keeps going blank if you move it to certain places, goes back if you move it back. Its like a loose wire.

Any ideas if it could be fixed or is it time to look for a new one.

Thanks

eslick

Sounds like it's a loose connector. Should be a relatively cheap fix at a laptop shop, had something similar happen to mine. Cost was around £50 if i remember rightly. Don't take it to Currys/PC World, they will rip you off. Try somewhere local.

If however they find it's a major problem and the whole screen needs replacing, it's time to buy a new machine.

    it's an easy fix.
What's the model make of the laptop! there's always a repair manual for laptops these days.
If we know the make and model we can tell you how easy or hard it would be to fix (but it's usually it's a 10 min job at most)

yup! It's a 20 min job by any competent IT guy with access to this:
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf (Maintenance and Service guide)

basically All the guy needs to do is:
    remove the battery
    undo the 3 screws
remove the plastic strip above the keyboard
check the cables from the hinges to the sockets above the keyboard
    put plastic cover back on
    do the screws
    put the battery back in
    power on and test.
    lol!!
