Hi guys,
Unfortunetely I got myself a CD30 on Monday with 6 lovely points.
Sadly I had my license revoked under the New Drivers Act 1995, as I passed in July 2008 and the date of the offence was June 2010.
My question is that when I pass my test again, can I say I have had my license for 3 years, or will I have to say from the second time I have passed, so about 1 month?
I'm hoping I can say 3 years, as the difference in insurance is a 4 figure sum!
Cheers

Under the Road Traffic (New Drivers) Act you are not disqualified, your licence is revoked. In light of that I would say that if you pass your test again, then you will have to disclose your licence time held as the length of time between your second pass and the time of the quote.
The only sure way to find out, however, is to ask the relevant insurer.0 -
When you get your new licence it will still have the points on for the CD30, so the premium is probably still going to be a four figure sum!0

You need to look at the exact wording of the question, normally it will be worded as such to say how long have you held a full licence and the answer will be the 1 month or however long its been since you passed your test for the second time.
A few insurers/ brokers can be more sympathetic for people who have had foreign licences or provisionals for a long time but its unlikely given your conviction for driving without due care and attention.0 -

I emailed the DVLA and got a response today, they said:
"You would have to discuss that with your insurance company, we do not know how an insurer would view the situation."
I will contact a few of the companies I got a good quote with and see what they are saying ...
Fingers crossed!0
