Plastic Coathangers

I have started to clear wardrobes and although I have recycled the contents to the Charity shop I am left with a mountain of clothes hangers. The charity shop did not want them.
How can I recycle them? The thought of throwing them away I cannot bear!

freecylce them! https://www.freecycle.org.uk
SOmeone will always need them!
otherwise you could try places like homeless hostels, childrens homes, supported accomodations- they might have a use for them? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Hi jmf
This would be a good post for the Green and Ethical board so I'll move you across shortly.
Freecycle, as has been mentioned is a very good idea. The human race seems to be sharply divided into two main classes - those who have wa-a-ay too many coat hangers and those who never seem to have enough

I'm surprised the charity shop didn't want them. When I worked in one, we were always deserate for coat hangers.
Anyhow, as Squeaky ans Lynzpower have said, Freecycle is the best way to get rid of them. Goodluck!0 -
I had amassed a mountain of M&S childrens coat hangers and I took them back to the store. They accepted them gladly.
I've also taken back to shops the wine carriers (as I always forget to take one with me when I'm buying wine!). Again they accept them for reuse.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

Good luck.
I am definitely in the latter category!
I bought a pack of 10 plastic hangers last week as I was running short. 2 days later, I still had no hangers - yet I'd not bought any more clothes.
Where do they go? Is there a black hole, similar to the one which takes odd socks, that I don't know about?Mortgage Free as of 03/07/2017 :beer:0 -
I know this is an old thread but today I took a binbag full of coathangers to the charity shop and they didnt want them. I took them to 4 different places and not one of them would take them. I thought with the hundreds of charity shops popping up all over the place that they could use them. Alas, not.:smileyhea0

Bung them on Freecycle............0

Try offering them to your nearest older peoples care homes. You'd be amazed how many still use horrible wire hangers because they don't have enough plastic ones..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

My local tesco have a recycling bin for hangers - might be worth checking your local branch0

have a look in the recycling section of your yellow pages, and have a look for businesses that recycle plastic, give them a ring and ask about your hangers, most of these companies do recycle them..
This is how we recycle the hangers that come into work.Work to live= not live to work0
