Hi,
My laptop wireless connection has been working fine since you kind folks helped me to set up the security on my router.
However, this morning, out of the blue, its not detecting my network. When I booted up it detected the neighbours on either side but not my own. Mine is the default and it connects automatically.
The lights are all on my router, my cable modem is working, i've connected to you on my other (wired) pc, so what could be wrong with it?
Not having any experience of wireless up until now I'm at a loss. We had a brief power cut this morning....about 3 secs....but the laptop wasnt turned on, although the power cable was connected and turned on. Would this make any difference, or could it have caused a problem?

thanks....so simple, and after trawling thru all the sticky on wireless networks too.
We ended up having 3 of the powercuts in the space of half an hour so I just gave up and left it while I went shopping. Did all the reboots when I got back and it solved the problem. The router wasnt even registering the laptop's existence at first so i set it up again. It's fine now. Thanx :T

You will be a wireless networking expert soon. Power dips can cause some strange effects. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Thanks, I did try that one but it just said it couldnt connect to the wireless network......well duh!...if it had connected I wouldnt have needed to tell it to repair itself. Silly pc
There was just one thing I didnt understand. I was reading how to do a 'ping' thingy and the first instruction said to check that it wasnt saying 'media disconnected', well, needless to say it was saying 'media disconnected'.
If anyone could explain what that means for future reference I'd be happy
