Hi, just reopening this thread as I definitely am looking now! Got £4000 plus the trade in for my car ( 03 primera)
Looking at the hyundai but can't find any in my area. Also happy to look at anything Astra/ Focus sized in the Liverpool area. Want to try and find something over the next week if possible, as I have a week off work. If anyone likes looking for cars, would you like to find me one? Online obviously!0 -
You must pack lighter than us - for a boot with enough space for a week's worth of luggage we got a Mondeo.

Another Primera, or Skoda Octavia. Many of the smaller cars mentioned above won't be as comfortable for 4 adults.0

In all honesty it's usually only 2 adults and a teenager! The 4 adults is now only on rare occasions...0

can i get this right your part xing your car because a sensor is telling a mechanic a camshaft sensor fault and the mechanic has said you need a new camkit fitted? or has someone said the camshaft sensor is faulty but you should have the belts and bits replaced?
a camshaft sensor is around £39.00 for those. held in via one bolt, ans easy to replace.
your car is in limp mode due to the ecu reading a camshaft sensor fault wich is widley common on the nissans to go along with the coolant temp sensor and crankshaft sensor.0 -
As above. I'd get a second opinion.0

No, sorry I didn't explain properly. That was a while ago. We had the sensor replaced and that has been fine since then. We are part exing because it's done 89,000 miles, getting very sluggish when accelerating, needs a new electric window and we can afford a newer one.0 -
ok that makes more sense now.mintymoneysaver wrote: »No, sorry I didn't explain properly. That was a while ago. We had the sensor replaced and that has been fine since then. i read it you need shot because this has failed and diagnosis was to change belts etc.
ive said it before and other will probably shout and screem at me, the fiat bravo
1.4 t-jet version though.
2008 models go for £5200 onwards.0 -
Thanks, I'll add that to my list!0

Going to have a look tomorrow. I've seen a Nissan Note 1.4 (57), a Ford Fusion (o8) and a Fiat Bravo 1.6 (08) on the internet so far that I plan on looking at. No Hyundais or Kias in my region in my price range at the moment. Out of those which would be the cheapest for tax, insurance and economy?0
