London Next weekend??

See theres plenty of London Threads but i have some specific questiosn that maybe some of you guys can help me with.

Firstly. ill be there on the Saturday and Sunday...i know its the 'popular' weekend, but is their any discount out there for attractions??

Secondaly. Will be going to a play on the Saturday evening at the Shaftesbury theatre, can anyone recommend a trendy near by bar to go to for pre-drinks, and where near by is also great to go to for Dinner(Is their any toptable, or discount to be had on a Saturday night for this??)

Thirdly. Have seen the most popular attractions(L-Eye, Buckingham, Tussauds)...can anyone recommend some other attractions we should check out(we are a young couple)

Fourthly. Can anybody recommend a good restaurant in the belgravia(where we are staying) extended area thats good to go for Sunday brunch???

Specific questions here guys, your help and recomendations are much appreciated.

** Also, is there an area in London in terms of nightlife thats busy on a Sunday night??

Sorry can't really help but there is a thread going about for 50% off London restaurants or something similar. Hopefully someone will post you in right direction.

All the museums are free like the Science, Natural History and the British Museum (although I don't think they are as good since they became free).

    Try looking at this site:

    or personally I love Camden:

  • I would recommend Camden Lock Market too, and there is great food there as well! The Tate Modern is wonderful and the slide great fun! But get there earlier than later as queues develop very quickly.
  • yeah the camden markets are great, i always go to camden when in london, seems a different way of life compared to the touresty parts of london.

    i love the place.
  • The London Dungeons are fantastic. We went just before christmas for hte second time, and its 1hr 30mins of about £20 each well spent.

https://www.visitlondon.com might be worth a visit too.

    Enjoy your weekend

Sunday - if you fancy a laugh, go the the Comedy Store nr Lec Square. It's the comedy store players (bit like Whose line is it anyway, if you remember that) and they are very funny.

Tate Modern if that's your kind of thing is good, then pop along to Borough Market by London Bridge for lunch (Fri/Sat only) its a great farmers market where alot of the stalls cook & sell their food. You can walk past The Globe as well.

2 exhibtions which have great reviews but I've not been to yet:

Discounts - get an oyster card & put on min fare.

or 2-1 with a train ticket (buy a cheap single, about £2 and get the discount)

Not so good on trendy restaurants, sorry. try toptable for a discount. It's not that close to Shaftesbury ave but I like the Oxo tower for drinks and/or dinner. You're near Covent Garden, China Town, so many different places to pick. there are some good fish restaurants around as well.
  • Not a fan of all it represents, but I would recommend a visit to Kensington Palace. The fixtures and fittings (as it were) are magnificent. You could also pop along to the Serpentine Gallery,(nearby) where Damon Hurst has collated a show of his own art collection. For bars - why not try a site like https://www.worldsbestbars.com
You will be near Soho, and there are just so many bars there. As somebody has already mentioned, for food, you will be near China town.

If you get giong a bit late, the Savoy Grill (off The Strand) does a fantastic Sunday Lunch for under GBQuids20 each. Not the cheapest place in London but, given the quality of the food and service (1 Michellin star) possibly the best value. You need to dress up a bit.

pbright ... just being nosey .. what are you seeing?

do you have Tesco Clubcard vouchers? I was at Spam-a-lot at the weekend, then took hubby to Planet Hollywood on the vouchers, made for a lot cheaper day out -although P.H is really NOT all that anymore!, but you can use them in Navajo Joe's (yummy cocktails!) or Maxwells in Convent Garden, if that helps?

I also used CC vouchers for a river cruise, but we didn't get to take it due to Tube disruption meaning we would miss our show..

hope that helps a bit? oh heck, it's just another reason for me to relive my fab weekend if not!! :rotfl:
