Ideal Icos Boiler - Lights have gone out!

I had my boiler fitted like so many others on the warmfront grant. Yesterday the lights on my boiler went out, the timer device situated below the boiler seems fine.
When I tried to heat the water the boiler sounded like it was working but no such joy and no hot water.
My OH is going to try and change the fuse this evening and hope that works, but knowing my luck it wont.
From my research it would sound like the PCB has gone, is this something that a normal person can change or do I need to use a registered fitter and how much is this likely to cost. Unfortunately my warranty has run out.
I am not too concerned about the heating not working as it is generally quite warm but no hot water is a nightmare - the other thing I was wondering is if there is any way to bypass this and get hotwater another way?

First thing to check is if you have power to the boiler, if you don't know how to do this safely then you need to get someone in.
If it's fed from an FCU or plug socket, then check the fuse in that.
You can't deduce PCB failure just from the symptoms given.
Modern programmers have a battery backup, so will still work if the power has failed.

9 times out 10 this will be the PCB. It's very common on this type of boiler. I've change dozens. In fact i've changed 2 in 2 houses next door to each other! They are that common.

My grandparents Ideal boiler that was supplied by warm front recently failed after just two years - it was the PCB :(

If it is the PCB is this a costly excercise? My OH is checking the fuse as advised by their tech support people, but knowing my luck it wont work!!!!

If the display is dead and the fuse in the board is ok, it will be 99% certain it is the pcb gone.

Pcb is about £200 to buy trade. Fitting is easy, but quite often other components take it out on this boiler and need checking first.

The new pcb will be orange, but sadly isn't much of an improvement and still goes all to often.
