Bank account for those with bad credit?

Hi,
I am trying to help out my dad who has a bad cerdit history. At the moment his salary gets paid into my brother's bank account and my brother handles my dad's money to make sure he doesn't over-spend and get back into debt.
However, my brother has asked my dad to open up his own bank account and start to take control of his own finances again (it has been about 2-3 years now).
Does anyone know whether a Bank or Building Society will let my dad open a standard bank account? he wasn't declared bankrupt but i know his credit history won't be good as he missed payments. H has a full time teaching job, and rents a flat and won't have had any bad debt for a few years, but I'm still worried he might get declined.
Any help/tips would be massively appreciated.

He needs a basic bank account.
Most have a debit card and no overdraft facility. The link below is pinched from the top of the page, but should help you understand what's available.

Co-op, Halifax and others all have such a facility.
Good luck!0 -

Not a "standard account" but the better Basic Banks Accounts are nearly as good.
