Gladstone Brookes - Please Help

Hi Can anyone help me please !!??

Early last year i decided to go through Gladstone Brookes to help me claim back my PPI from Barclays. To be honest i have not been that impressed with gladstone brookes and initially had to constantly chase them and there service was poor however now barclays have decided to payout on PPI claims for any claim submitted it seems pointless using gladstone Brookes. Does any one know what the implications are if i write to gladstone brookes and tell them i do not want them to handle my complaint/claim going forward????

Many thanks

James

You employed a company to do the work. You may not have liked their service but its too late to sack them when the payment has been agreed by the bank. You should have sacked them before this.

if you could sack them after payment was agreed then claims companies would go bust as everyone would employ them to put the complaint in, wait to see what happens and then when they are paid out, they will sack the company and take all the money. It is totally unrealistic (as much as I wish you didnt have to pay this company).

  • Thanks for the reply. What if i told GB's i just didn't want to pursue the claim anymore and removed the authority for GB to talk to Barclays? I have not been sent a settlement figure by Barclays yet so as far as i'm concerned the complaint is still ongoing.

    Thanks again

GB would be likely to sue for their estimated loss (X% of whatever your claim value is), or at the very least there will be a minimum charge stated within the contract should you decide to terminate your contract with them

Also, the Barclays thing does seem to have been a rather crafty piece of marketing in my eyes - we are yet to see scores of people receiving refunds without having to go through the full process

The announcement of payouts was made back in June, yet just over 2 months later the forum has only had a handful of success claims that would fall under the "If you were on hold for the JR, we will pay up" banner

Congratulations to all who have got their PPI back!

Take a look at the back of your TERMS & CONDITIONS that you signed. It clearly states that they have been providing this service for tens of thousands of clients and are recovering millions of pounds per month for them!

That they have been providing the service for x amount of people and are recovering x amount per month is incapable of being a contractual term for which there is any obligation.
