Laptop getting dirty

I bought a brand new laptop around 3-4 months ago and recently had it looked over by a professional who said it was in a right state considering how long I had had it, I do try to keep it clean as possible but is there any specific cleaning equipment i should buy, any tips on how to best keep it clean? Thanks for ya help!

Nice one :)

I dust the outside of mine occasionally with an ordinary duster. I use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment to clean the keyboard. I use a soft cotton handkerchief to very gently wipe the screen. It is 3 years old and looks brand new so I can’t be doing too much wrong.

If yours is very dusty, take it outside and blow hard. Turn it upside down and blow around the keyboard. Don’t drop it.

You can probably remove the keyboard and clean underneath if there are any sticky residues from coffee or spilled drinks etc.

If mine gets finger marked, I find a slightly damp (definitely not wet) cloth cleans it ok. I have never bothered with expensive specialist cleaning stuff though these are widely available. You can buy things like a USB powered mini vacuum cleaner and specialist screen cleaning cloths.

Be very careful with the screen as too much pressure can damage it. Don't allow any water to get inside the case or keyboard.

PS, I assume your pro was referring to the physical condition, and not the state of the Windows and software installation.
