As many of you will know I have been currently having alot of money problems. Anyway I have been looking for ways to boost my income and applied to some differant work form home companies doing data entry etc I received this e-mail today. At first I thought it was fine but now am starting to wonder if it is a con. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lisa
Thank you for your application in the above mentioned position. You must be able to conduct yourself in a professional manner. This includes having excellent grammar and spelling when communicating with clients via e-mail.
In addition to the above you are also required to have the ability to follow instructions closely and clearly. All communication with me at Human Resources and your clients will be done by email, so you will not be required to call anyone at anytime as I know how daunting this can be! This also allows you to work at whatever hours suit you, days, nights, afternoons or weekends.
You will be processing applications, as well as filling out forms in specific companies’ databases. This can be tedious at times so patience is also required at first.
Even though you do need basic internet knowledge, through the training provided you will have a step by step walkthrough on how to perform these tasks properly and effectively. All training will be done at your own home. There are no "down times" with this position, so you will have a constant flow of work to complete. This is NOT a "get rich quick scheme".
The amount of money you make each week is up to you, and how much time and effort you are willing to put in with this position. The average person can make between £100 - £500 a week.
The training that we will give you will explain all about taxes, independent contractors etc. Your payments will be received through PayPal. When an application is completed the client will then deposit £10 in to your PayPal account, which can be withdrawn in to your bank account at your leisure. You can read all about PayPal and their security policies at there website.
There is a one time non refundable fee for the training package. This includes all your processing fees and training costs at just £14.95. We then offer online support for as long as you may need us. There will never be any other charges made to you for as long as you are with us. You are guaranteed to make this back in your first order. That is a personal guarantee.
You will need a word processing program to perform successfully. Once you have received the training pack after the one off payment you can start work straight away if you wish. You can contact me anytime by email for help, advice or anything in general.
If you are serious about this position, meet all the requirements and feel working from home would work well for you then please contact me by email and I will help you to set up your account with PayPal and then send you your training pack so you can get started.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions that you would like answered.
Thank You,
Thanks

It says
This is NOT a "get rich quick scheme".
And asks for an advanced fee.
Both signs of a scam.0 -
Thanks for your quick reply I wasnt too sure as at fist glance I thought it was genuine. If i was to set up a paypal account and send the £14 would paypal refund me if it did turn out to be a scam? Its just that I am desparetly looking at ways to increase my income but am very limited as to what I can do as I have very young children and already work during the day.0

Happy to tell us the company name/website address?
If not PM me it. (don't worry I don't need a job!)0 -
sound interesting- may I ask for the details of how and where to apply for this. I would say that this doesnt sound like a con to me. you'll prob get a user name to put on all your docs and then the company that have trained you get a % from that company for finding you.

If people could earn £500 a week by doing data entry at home do you think anyone would be out their working hard in an office for half that?
Ask them to deduct the fee from your first 'wage'! See what they say to that!

Well, it's literate (which is rare with scams). If it were me I would risk £14.95, but I can afford to waste the money.
My personal view is that it will probably be a really really boring way to earn money which will involve a LOT of hard work, but will actually pay out (but probably at less than minimum wage unless and until you get very skilled and fast at it - whatever 'it' is). If you have staying power, give it a go!
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
if you could make 500 per week and presumably they get a profit from this too why would they ask for 14.95 up front?
sadly it is a scam.0 -
I cant actually remeber which site I applied through. It was one of those job vacancy ones. I think it may even be my local paper online one. not to sure.
I am going to e-mail them and ask them for the name of the company before I proceed any further though.0 -
Are you sure the agent is bona fida?
It's possible they could be the ones running a scam/harvest email addresses etc.0 -
Yes Yes Yes! Definitely a scam. These people play on the desperate and vulnerable who may think that £14 is a small price to pay.
Please visit the OFT scambusters site at http://www.oft.gov.uk/Consumer/Scams/Home.htm and make up your own mind but in my opinion stay clear.
