Best fitness DVD to buy?

This is kind of moneysaving old style as I want to buy a fitness DVD instead of joining a gym! I'm in reasonable fitness, I walk the dog for at least an hour a night, but that's more a gentle stroll! I'd like to buy a fitness DVD to do at home, but every star and his dog seems to have brought one out, and I wondered whether anyone has found a good one that's not the type that has you leaping up and down to dance music, but that gives you a good workout that isn't boring! I've looked on Amazon tonight but there are literally thousands of them, and I'd appreciate anyone's advice on any decent fitness DVDs that they have perhaps used.

IMO you don’t need a DVD.
Have a search for advice on the internet and use your imagination. Check with your doctor if you are overweight, very unfit or have any health issues before doing anything too strenuous though it sounds like you are ok..
Alternate walking the dog with “running” the dog occasionally. Exert yourself enough to get a raised heartbeat and rapid breathing for at least 20 minutes at least three times per week.
Do stretching exercises, sit ups etc.
Take up salsa or another dancing style.
Have more sex and more energetic sex.

Max and Paddy exercise dvd is very very funny but a good workout too if you can get over the laughing

I'm a big fan of Beverley Callard. Her Rapid Results DVD is currently 3.99 on play.com.
It's cheap because it's been out ages , because of this some people find it a bit dated. However I love the cheesy 80's music and the upper arm workout is excellent and a lot of fun. She has brought out others since this one but I think this original one is the best
Beverley who plays Liz Macdonald (coronation st) is (or was) a proper aerobic instructor which I feel gives her a bit of credibility. However I can see how she might grate on some people, I find her quite warm and funny.0 -
Davina McCall - 3 30 mintue workouts- this is my all time favourite, use it nearly everyday and the results have been really good
Tiffany Chapman (used to be in brookside) - fight the fat - kind of boxercise type, I found it very good and the results noticeable
Vicky Entwistle (Janice on corrie) - weight off workout - this is only new but I got in from amazon dvd rental. I've only used it for about a week and I really love it
A few other that I liked where the nell mcandrew (any of them) they're all good but I thought you'd need to be fit to use it lol
Angela Griffiths dance workout, this was good a bit boring once you learn it though
Rosemary Connolly (any of them) she's good too although I found it abit boring
Ones I personally think you should avoid as I wasted money getting them are:
Wayne Sleep, cant remember the name
Jade Goody (all of them)
Joanne Hall (boring)
Pump it up (men only haha)
Kate from big brothers dvd
Carmen Electra
HTH & Goodluck

I've got Ministry of Sound 'pump it up', very dancey and also Davina 'power of 3' which is lots of resistance work with light weights, both very good for different things.0

thanks so much for all your replies, rather stupidly I hadn't thought of the library, but I live away out in the country and the nearest library's about 10 miles away, although I guess I could always run there and back! I actually did do the running/walking with the dog until I moved last month, and I amazed myself in that I could run for about 2 mins well enough, despite smoking for years! So I'll take that up again. for anyone that's interested, in today's Mail there's a free pilates DVD that looks okay, I'll watch it later over a glass of wine!0
