Leaving gift for emigrating family???

Hello all

Has anyone got any ideas of what we can get some good friends who are emigrating to australia? Their stuff has already been packed ans shipped, so can't be anything big, they're off in about a week, so probably won't have time to drink a bottle of anything nice, and I really can't think of anything....help!

They've got an 18 month old little girl, so maybe something for her? we're looking at spending £30-50.

hope someone out there can help

A week isn't a lot of time to put it together but I would try to do a memory book, pics of friends, family special places, ordinary places whatever you think will bring back good memories and their little girl is too young to remember the UK so it would be nice to give her some pictures of "auntie sue's dog " or whatever.

    Do they have a computer?

You could always get a web-cam (if they like that sort of thing)

We did that when our neighbours moved to France a couple of years ago.

How about a Quaich ? It's a pewter bowl. We call it the Cup of Friendship and it originated in the Scottish Highlands centuries ago and became the favourite drinking cup throughout scotland. Traditionally, the Quaich is used when offering a guest "the cup of welcome" and again when offering the farewell or parting drink.

We gave one to friends when they emigrated with a personal inscription and it's not heavy so can be carried as hand luggage.
