Choosing seats on a plane

Hello All,
I am going away in October half term and can book my seats on the plane from early next week.
I am not an expert on these things! How can I find out a) what type of plane I will be flying on, and b) which are the best seats?
I'd be grateful for your advice.

Post your travel dates and flight number on here or www.holidaytruths.co.uk and someone might be able to tell you the aircraft type.
Then look at www.seatguru.com for reviews on seats.
The "best" seats are often subjective. Some for example like sitting near the front so they can deplane quickly, some people believe being over the wings gives a smoother flight experience, some like to be at the back near the toilets etc etc.0 -
Depends where you're flying to and with who.
If you go onto the airline site to book the seats it should tell you the plane type/layout and the seats that are still available. Once you have this then go onto www.seatguru.com and look at the feedback/comments for each seat.
The above is only really of relevance if your flight is a mainstream airline with a medium/longhaul flight - if you're travelling in Europe or low cost then ignore and take your chances.0 -
If you go into the website of the company you are flying with you may be able to see which aircraft your will be flying on.. I always choose a window seat just in front of the wings but I like to see the view so to speak, I'm sure its not the safest place to sit but I prefer it.. I'm sure everyone has their own preference . Take into account how long the flight is and how often you might need the loo although personally I don't choose to sit near them . Some people like to sit near the doors as there is often more leg room but I think you need to be fit and able to sit there in case of evacuation .#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
