Hi everyone,
Just looking for opinions/ possible solutions to my problem with flybe.
Ive flown with flybe before via an agent when going snowboarding and every time they have accepted my snowboard for a charge of £30 with no problems..
So this time I decided to book the flights myself.. Mid way through the booking process it informs me that if I have ski equipment that I need to ring customer services within 24hrs to guarantee my equipment on the flight.
So I complete the booking and ring customer services to book my board on... Just to be told that snowboards arnt guaranteed transit and that I shall need to arrive at the airport and if they can fit my board on they shall at a cost of £30 EACH WAY!!!!
I then get told by customer services that if I had skis they can be guaranteed and if they cannot fit them on the flight I could get a refund...
So that's just brilliant Im flying to the Alps with the risk that I may not be able to take my snowboard with me !!!! and I can't get a refund on my flight.. Cheers Flybe thanks a lot!!!!!

Probably a silly comment, but is there any possibility that you could fit the snowboard in a case designed for skis and check it in that way?0

Its a good idea and one that we did think of. The only problem being is that there arn't many ski bags that can fit in a snowboard. There are three of us going so we would all need to by ski bags, and Im guessing flybe will be on the look out for folks trying to sneak on snowboards disguised as ski's :eek:0

You could always put 2 snowboards in one ski bag and tell the check in staff that they are learner skis!0
