You can get DLA and work but obviously the reason for the DLA can't be something you need to do for work. For instance you couldn't claim mobilty and be a postman.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

It's complex and I would do some reading up as staffie suggests.
Staffie, I tried to move to squash that bug which I thought was in my laptop
My brain is well and truly fogged, it took me many secinds to realise it is your icon

Yes. DLA is a non means tested benefit for people who have mobility (getting about outdoors) or care needs (help with bodily functions, staying safe). It requires application via form and it helps if you have the support of medical professionals who can verify how your illnesses affects your daily life.
Probably going into any greater detail isn't worth it at this point as the web is full of resources that do. A good start may be by looking for advice relating to DLA and the specific condition(s) you suffer.
Working would only be a problem if it contradicted the reasons claimed to qualify for the benefit. For example if you claimed to need guidance and supervision while outdoors when visiting unfamiliar places to avoid panic attacks then being an RAF pilot would seem to contradict that claim."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -
I have always worked. I am 54 years old and never claimed a penny through unemployment or any benefit - but i have had a stroke i will read up on it....thanks a lot for your replies.
