Advice for ebay "not delivered" claim

You're in a far stronger position than PayPal as you allegedly owe them the money. They have to chase you for the money and it's up to you to decide whether you can put up with ignoring their calls if they pass the matter on to a limp wristed debt collection agency.
If they do take you to Court then I'd argue that you have sufficient proof.
In the meantime I would lodge a formal complaint in writing against PayPal and escalate it to the Financial Services Ombudsman. The man without a signature.0 -
Thanks for the comments - I've held off of paying, and ebay US are going to contact me again tomorrow (UK ebay are unable to help as the claim was registered on ebay.com).
The proof was received by email, but it has the contact details of a post office branch manager who can be contacted by ebay / paypal in the event of any queries. I think I'll take the advice to continue trying to get the decision overturned and be prepared to go to court, knowing that I have adequate proof against ebay in the event of a hearing. The FSO suggestion is useful and I will definetly pursue this if it gets to that point.
What a hassle though, it's certainly turned me off of the idea of selling on ebay again - and that's after 500 mostly straight-forward transactions!0 -
I think the problem with this sort of thing highlights for me the unsuitability of eBay as a venue to sell high end goods overseas. Thanks for the comments - I've held off of paying, and ebay US are going to contact me again tomorrow (UK ebay are unable to help as the claim was registered on ebay.com).

While I agree 100% with your case here, for £1870 I'd have flown to Romania and delivered it myself. I'm not necessarily joking here either - flights to Hungary are only £100-something and the train to Romania costs £50. I'd be on that plane tomorrow."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I thought that you could sue paypal UK for the money, since your contract is with them, they've refunded your money against your wishes, causing you a loss.
You have proof of delivery, so sue paypal UK instead. It's been done before, and you can sue them again.
