Barclays default

Options
Hi All,

This account was passed to Wescot on October 2009 and the the first contact I had with these was December 2009 when I arranged the first payment. I made a good history with these making all payments on time until may this year when I arranged with barclays and wescot to cancel payments till the ppi is sorted out.

On looking at my credit file I note that a default on my file for this account was dated April 1st 2010. I was under the impression that they would default the account prior to passing the account over for collection. Though by the time April came round I would have made 4 consecutive payments - not that that would have been a difference.

I was just wondering if anyone had similar experiences with any company and what the situation regarding default dates?

Cheers in advance!

Martin

    Hi

Would very much expect that barclays would have issued a default before selling it.
Probably write to westcott and dispute the date of the debt, you could also ask for a copy of the default notice, or maybe specify a copy of the original default notice issued by barclays.
I guess you don't still have a copy of the default from barclays from way back?

Did they sell it or did they manage it, barclays dont normaly sell. Instead they go through a few agencys then issue a N1.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

a debt being referred to a collections agency or in house collectors is one of the key indicators for filing a default

They passed the account to them for management - they never sold it. They did initially pass it to mercers and then I started to deal with wescot.

I was thinking that the date of the default would have been around back end of 2009 but its the april 2010. I have sent a letter to barclays asking for clarification so we will see.

Your right; sods law but I dont have anything. Hopefully the account should be clsoed by next month if the PPI stuff is sorted.

Why would they issue court action - I have met all payments on the arrangement with wescot and the account is on hold pending the PPI.
