Income Protection Insurance.?

Hello all,
firstly let me apologise for potentially asking a question that has probably been asked before but i am in a pickle and have found myself getting more and more confused by the results to my searches.
i have reason to believe that changes are afoot in my company i work for - i have been there for 5 years and have seen the company lurch from crisis to crisis. i have been lucky so far and not been selected for redundancy as yet but i am feeling unsettled by developments.
i live in a fairly remote location so jobs have always been far and few between, especially offering the rate of pay i am on.therefore, i am considering taking out income protection insurance - i don't have a mortgage, but i do privately rent with my partner. Half our wages go towards rent and bills so i am concerned that even after taking proactive steps to reduce and tighten our belts were we can that we will struggle until i can find something else.
can anyone point me in the right direction for a 'fair' income protection insurance or give me some pointers as to what i should look out for?
many thanks in advance for your assistance.

Given the current marked and that your Company has made redundancies I would think it would be very difficult to get income protection and that even if you are accepted, the premiums would be very high.
You will get advice from one of the big insurers or go through a Financial Advisor.0
