First Time rent - after split with Wife

Hi I have seperated from my wife and I am looking at renting my own place, however I have some severe concerns I would like help with.

I had a DRO which ended in Aug 2010 and since then owing to the debt my wife ran up in her name (and a small overdraft in my name) we decided to go on a DMP, and have my wages to go into her bank account that was not part of the DMP to pay them off.

Now we have sepearted (only 1 week so far but living under the same house, getting on though) we cancelled the DMP, I have sorted things out with my bank with regards the overdraft and will be getting my salary paid back into my bank account.\

I am due to look at some property on Tuesday and I will be offered some assistance from my sister financially, however I am worried that becuase of my past I will be laughed at when having my credit checked.

I earn more than enough to cover the rent etc and I would really like to move in asap as you can imagine.

Can anyone offer any assistance or information?

Thanks

have a look on the bankruptcy board, lots of advice on renting with bad credit there. being a lodger will be easier than being a tenant, and private landlords may be easier than EAs.

    good luck!
