Hiya money savers. Just after a little help and advice for a newbie like me. I'm trying to claim back on some bank charges that I feel were un-fair and caused a cycle of charges I could not break out of.
I rang Barclays up to ask if they could send me a list of transactions (asked if they included charges without making out im only after it for claiming on them which they said yes it does) from the very beginning of my account opening.
I had no idea you could claim back on these unfair charges until recently. So could not remember when exactly these charges happened. Hence why Ive got all the paperwork ordered. 2007 - last week. Like I say. A lot of paper work to go thru with my highlighter .
.
My problem is tho... the paperwork Ive received is very confusing. Its not a simply laid out like a normal monthly statement etc. Cant seem to make heads or tail out of it. Really newbie question... But what am I looking for? And the letters like ATM, BCC, DDR etc... what are the letters for bank charges?
Thanks in advance people.

 1) they are not unfair. 2) you cannot claim them back.
You can request the bank reviews the charges and consider making a goodwill payment back to you.
atm = cashpoint withdrawalAnd the letters like ATM, BCC, DDR
BCC = (guess) bank counter credit (rather than BGC which goes through the clearing system)
DDR - (guess again) direct debitAnd the letters like ATM, BCC, DDR
