DAB Tuner still faulty after repair. What next.

Hi, I have not found a clear answer to my question using a search so I am posting a new thread.

I purchased a Denon TU1800 DAB tuner last year with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty.

It has always had a problem with going silent on a frequent basis that I thought was an aerial problem as i was using the supplied indoor aerial.

I have now installed an outside aerial but the problem continued.

The tuner shows good signal strength when the sound goes and the DAB radio in the kitchen stays on.

I decided to check hifi forums and found this has been a common problem with this DAB tuner.

I contacted Denon and they I advised I return it to the shop I bought it from for a repair and I did this.

The tuner returned from repair and the problem was still there. I took it back to the shop yesterday and they gave me the choice of an ex-display tuner (last one in stock) in exchange so I would not have to wait a few more weeks for the repair. The Denon tuner is no longer available so they could not give me a new replacement.

I have set up the ex-display tuner today and this has the exact same problem as the original one.

I have now completely lost faith in this product.

I always find complaining difficult. Do I have to accept another offer of repair or can I ask for a refund?

Could I ask for it to be replaced with another brand?

Any advice please.

Thanks
Gerry

  • You can ask but they can say no. You can ask for a refund but they can make a proportionate deduction for the amount of use that you have had from it.

    Thanks for the reply somethingcorporate

If I had realised it was faultyit would have been returned very quickly for exchange or refund.I will discuss my options with the shop.

I remain disappointed that Denon could not repair the fault I should not need to keep sending it for repairs.
