Many thanks :T

Hi Queenbee. I have had no problems with Insurance companies, so long as you declare it to them & the diabetes is well controlled you won't have any issues. Obtain a letter from your Dr or Hospital diabetes clinic explaining that insulin and needles etc. cannot be carried in hold luggage. No airline has ever bothered me about it.
Every day above ground is a good day.

Thank you - have had some huge quotes!!! Tried a few online and had to be referred as only recently diagnosed .... we feel we have it under control and of course as parents of a 7 year she does not go out of our sight and the same will be true on holiday but quotes of £150+ seem excessive. We have the letter from Consultant and are so ready for a break away... we booked this last year way before Christmas!

Not really; I've had quotes before for my insurance and I think the highest one was £1200 for a two week holiday. It definitely pays to shop around as I eventually found cover for the same holiday for around £250.

It seriously does pay to shop around; what you could do is try the official Diabetes charity website to see if they recommend any companies.

Are the two holidays planned to be taken in quick succession? Newly diagnosed conditions can often incur loaded premiums for a while but these can reduce the longer the condition has been diagnosed and treated so with time (not even necessarily that long, a few months possibly but conditions will vary) your premiums could well reduce. It might be well worth trying to find one-off insurance for this trip and then either another one-off policy for your next trip or an annual policy at that time as it could work out cheaper than trying to obtain an annual policy at this time.

I hope this helps, I should have thought to say that earlier but my brain obviously has not been in gear today! :o
