Waste Pipe problem

I have just looked at the drain to the side of our house. The waste/water level looks high.

The waste etc comes form pipe to right and goes down pipe to left. There are actually two pipes to the left. One s the main one and is under the water. Is the one you can see some sort of overflow. If so, what will happen if I leave this untreated.
Here is a picture of a vertical pipe to the from of the house. Usually the water flows through here slowly out under our wall and am assuming into the main sewage. The water has now risen here.

I just need some advice as to what way this system is working and what I need to do next. Totally freaking out at the moment so any advice welcome, especially if there is someone with good knowledge on this.
Many thanks,
C

An application of drain rods to the underwater pipe will probably fix the problem. They would be £30 well invested if you cannot borrow some.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
I will try and give that a go. Because the waste is backed up at the ventilation pipe it may be a blockage between the pipes on our property and the main sewage system.0

Sorted. Friend of friend came round with a what I can only describe as a rod with a rubber circle on the end (plunger). A few up and downs and teh water was flowing again. Hallelujah! The stench was unbelievable thought lol0
