boarding loft ceiling

Just had the loft floor boarded out for storage, the roof is slate with no felt. Is it ok to just board onto the rafters to help keep it clean without using insulation and what material should we use.

No, as you will get alot of condensation, just staple breathable roofing felt to the rafters.

If you are boarding the roof you really should insulate it. It will be well worth the extra cost and time and it is a straightforward diy job.

The op just wanted to keep it clean, now if you want to insulate, one of the best products is Kingspan, but costly.
But it is important to have air flow between any insulation and the roof slates.
