Help me start an oak tree please?

On our open land there's an oak tree.
It's not a large one, about 12 feet high.
Last year it was being swamped by a rabid Virginia creeper and looked very poorly.
So I pulled the lot off and this year it's looking fabulous, very healthy with little baby acorns on.
I see it as 'my tree' I saved it.
Today when I went to have a look at it, taking the dogs for a run, there's a twiglet about 10-12 inches long hanging from it.
It's not snapped all the way through, sort of halfway and dangling.
I was thinking if I could take that twiglet off, and take it home, how could I propogate it over the winter then plant it next to Mother tree next year maybe?
But I'm not sure how to and wouldn't want to kill this little twiglet.

oaks are magnificent beasts. twill take 400 years to come to full glory, but think of it as your legacy to the future.Freedom is the freedom to say that 2+2 = 4 (George Orwell, 1984).
