Hi
We're having an extension built on the side of our house at the moment, do I need to tell anyone once its finished? (or before?)
I guess buildings insurance, but what about the council - thinking council tax? Is there anyone else that needs to know?
thanks in advance!

Surely the Council should know about it already what with planning Application and Building regs.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

You don't need to worry about council tax - the planning department will report the details to the valuation office. Any increase in value wont be assessed until the property is sold or ownership is transferred and then they will re-band the property if the value has changed to place it in a higher band.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
