First thanks to all for the advice regarding security, have installed the free version of Avast, do I need to run it from time ti time or just leave it to do its thing? (first PC, have Macs)
Then what is the normal thing when I leave it for a while, sleep or hibernate?
Next, should I use till battery is flat as friend says or charge each night and flatten once a month as recommended for my Macbook?
Thanks in advance.

run a scan now'n'again, especially if you suspect anything. Personally I never use sleep/hibernate, better turning off properly. Battery - depends on the technology to a degree, but usually best to run down, not out completely, then charge. If you're going to run it off the mains a lot, take the battery out for prolonged periods of mains operation

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Hibernate keeps all your windows open yet uses zero power (you can even disconnect completely from mains and battery), so this is ideal for breaks short or long.knightstyle wrote: »Then what is the normal thing when I leave it for a while, sleep or hibernate?
It runs itself automatically. You should be getting regular reassuring audible notifications that it has updated (maybe five times or so a week).knightstyle wrote: »First thanks to all for the advice regarding security, have installed the free version of Avast, do I need to run it from time t0 time or just leave it to do its thing?0 -
