Sorry I missed the OR your original post ;) BTW does that include the women that was in bed when it was all kicking off?

Oh stevie, give me a break.

Its pretty clear I am talking about the people involved in riots, and it's pretty clear I didn't say every single one of the 1000+ individuals carried out every single violent act that took place over the course of the riots.

I'm talking collectively, hence "these people carried out".

If all you can do amongst all the arguments put forward is say "but you didn't say 'or'", then that suits me fine, as clearly you can't argue against what is actually being said.

He's talking about the person who was arrested for taking ownership of (knowingly) stolen goods, and harbouring (knowingly) the purpetrator of the crime.

I.e. trying to be clever, because she wasn't actually rioting. But of course, were all actually talking about those people rioting. Some don't seem to be able to latch on to the running theme of the thread. Or, are just being purposely obtuse. I know which one I'm going with.

Yep, I reckon someone at the Council wanted to make a name, as mentioned previously. If there is no real previous of anti-social behaviour & given the profile, being the 1st case, this will go contested & I doubt the council will secure an eviction.
Waste of time & money. Legals, court fees, re-housing (if 'succesful)... what a joke. Go after those convicted & holding a tenancy *rolls eyes*

Harsh sentence I agree. But these sentences need to be harsh. We cannot have this happening again.
You think the way to stop it happening again is to take thousands of ordinary people who were having a laugh and fill them with angry seething resentment and bitterness? Which planet is this on?

We have a broken society. We need to fix it, not get mad with it and smash it with a sledgehammer.

When we've done chucking people out of their homes over a pair of shorts, the police still have to police these communities. Do they think policing gets easier when everybody hates them?

So 4 deaths, untold £millions in Property Fire Damage, £millions of goods looted..... was just "ordinary people having a laugh"?

I don't think I've ever heard of such a 'wet' analysis. To talk about planets, when clearly you come from another galaxy!

No it doesn't! And the main reason they are hated by the majority is because they don't deal swiftly and adequately enough with the minority of 'untouchables' polluting these so-called communities. [But to be fair, a lot has to do with the Namby-Pamby procedures, court leniency, the Nanny State, and so-called 'Human Rights'].

Who cares what the gang members and looters themselves think of the police? Murderers, rapists, child molesters, and armed robbers hate them too. What sort of 'PR Campaign' do you suggest to make these people 'like' the police? Or should we give murderers a week's probation and build a new 'youth club' for them?

I think the people who are pleading guilty with the their legal council having minimum time to advise them and being put before 'hang them and flog them' magistrates (in the middle of the night) are probably the unfortunates in all this icon9.gif I should imagine the bad boys will be pleading not guilty and hoping for a referral to a crown court judge, in fact I guess that there will soon be blanket not guilty submissions due to the sentences being handed out.

Isn't it obvious by now, that's exactly what it was? We might not be impressed by their idea of fun. But they weren't a horde of aliens that emerged from the sewers.

Yes. But the police's problem is that they can't distinguish between the crimes that matter to people and the offences that don't. So they ignore the guy who's causing misery while they pursue somebody who's basically harmless.

It's not justice. It's about vengeance.
    I am happy with vengence.

Justice has gone out of the window already.....

When was the last time that justice was delivered anyway?

Did Mohammed Ibrahim received any “justice” for mowing 12 year old Amy Huston and let her die wile he was driving disqualified and without insurance?

Ahh yes he get 4 months by Blacburn magistrates.

Ahh… by the way justice system has no yet manage to deport him and we still pay for his “benefits” because if we don’t we will violate his human rights init?

    Do me a favour…….
