Council evictions begin

Interesting, is this the start of the easing off, are they starting to run out of prison cells? Puts that receiving sentence in context. This is perverse in the extreme.A fourth defendant, Linda Boyd, 31, who has 62 previous convictions, was given a 10 month jail term suspended for two years.
The maximum sentence of six months jail was deemed not long enough by the lower courts and their cases were fast-tracked to Manchester Crown Court for sentence today.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Not just in possession.
The charge says £50 quid's worth of lager. That would take some carrying, even if it's retail price (though the actual value would be the replacement cost i.e. wholesale price)."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. His posts are always well researched, informative and well written. Honestly, one of the reasons I post so little on here is the fact that I read his posts & realise that there is no need for me to reply as he has said it better than I ever could.Don't bring your hang ups here
I am not really an Eskimo. I can hear what you're thinking... "Inuit!"0 -

What do you suggest we do? it seems nothing, but also seems you won't actually say that.
So all these people INVOLVED in the rioting, organising, and taking part (Or merely going out for the night having a laugh, as you would suggest). What would you like to see done?
Why not apply justice, it appears that now it is going in front of proper judges we make get some sense at last :T Ursula get that appeal in fast.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. That doesn't even touch on my question.
I asked what you would like to see done. You said "apply justice".
My question is. What is justice to you? It seems letting people carry on as they were, and understanding from the nation that this was merely a few "ordinary" people having a laugh.
So what exactly would you like to see happen? More warnings perhaps? Rules of tenancy not followed again? A monetry fine and a warning?
You appear to be somewhat pleased that someone with 62 previous theft offences, has received a suspended sentence instead of an actual sentence.
At what point would you be happy to see that person spend some time at her majestys pleasure? How many warnings would be suitable for you? 70? 100? 400? 1000?
Or should we just keep warning her and tallying up the crimes?
At what point should we, as a nation be allowed to get annoyed? At what point should councils actually say "oi, theres a rule here, you signed up to, were going to use it"? If organised looting arson and theft don't seem to cut it for you, what on earth does?0 -

What do you not understand about my statement 'perverse in the extreme' :wall:Interesting, is this the start of the easing off, are they starting to run out of prison cells? Puts that receiving sentence in context. This is perverse in the extreme.

Still doesn't answer the question.
I think we been here before haven't we? Nearly 6 posts of me asking a question, only for you to turn round and say I hadn't asked one as you didn't wish to answer it.
I'll save a further 3 posts and give up now.0 -

I have told you what I want, justice, we don't want shocks and amazement. The sentencing council put is quite nicely
http://sentencingcouncil.judiciary.gov.uk/The Sentencing Council for England and Wales promotes greater consistency in sentencing, whilst maintaining the independence of the judiciary. The Council produces guidelines on sentencing for the judiciary and aims to increase public understanding of sentencing.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is.
