Cruisedeals help required

I purchased a cruise last thursday from cruisedeals (part of Thompson) over the telephone. Before entering into the contract my other half asked a list of written questions and received confirmation from the agent before handing the telephone to me. I then asked the same written questions and got confirmation from the agent. I then paid the agreed price in full by debit card (to avoid the 2.5% CC charge = £95)

One of the questions that I required confirming was that the flights outbound AND return would be premier class. Both my partner and myself had it confirmed by the agent that the flights would be premier class both ways.

I have just seen the travel details with the itinerary and was horrified to find that we were booked ECONOMY outward bound and Premier homeward bound. I immediately telephoned cruisedeals. I spoke to a lady who called the shipping company only to be told that all the premier seats were fully booked now. She also stated that we had not been booked premier outbound. I asked for a transcript of the call - surprise surprise - they don't record calls. I told her that this had left a sour taste and that I was sickened and deeply dissapointed and that I only went ahead with the booking because of the confirmation of premier class flights. As there are no more premier class flights available, I asked how they are going to compensate us?

As far as I am concerned, we entered into a binding contract and cruisedeals have misrepresented the holiday as described at the time of booking and are in breach of contract.

I was told that they will have to speak to their agent on monday to confirm the above. With the absence of a recording or transcript, it will be their word against ours. I am prepared to go all the way with this as I feel so let down and in effect been lied to in order to secure a sale.

Any help will be appreciated.

You accuse them of lying - has it not occurred to you that it is probably just a good old fashioned c**k-up !!!
  • Thank you for your reply, you may be right? it may be a c**k up, but it is a c**k up on their part, not mine. We are the ones who are not getting what we paid for as the holiday is 'not as described'.

If your approach to the agent was anything like your post on here, I can almost guarantee a negative response to your problem !

Why ramble on about "not as described" when you haven't even had a proper response yet ?

If what you say is correct, you have a good case. Why would you book economy one way and Premier the other ? If you had asked for that I would have expected the booking office to query/double check your requirement.

Instead you launch into a long tirade: you were "sickened" and "horrified" and left with a "sour taste" and accuse people of lying and offloading a incorrect sale on you !

AND, of course, that word "Compensation" rears its ugly head !!!!!!

OP I understand how you feel. A cruise costs a lot of money and you want everything to be just as it should be.

Do not know where you stand though if you can not prove your conversation.

Good luck, hope they sort it out for you.

Are you connected with cruisdeals, TUI or Thomson in any way?

I came here for advice not a lecture, and yes, if I have been misled and they have misrepresented the holiday, they have broken the LAW.

I can tell you that this holiday has not been cheap, my partner and I have saved for many years to be able to afford it. If I was supplied with the holiday that was described and paid for, I would be happy and would not be on this forum asking for advice. As for being 'sickened', 'horrified' and 'left with a sour taste' - I am, as I now have all the hassle of trying to sort it out instead of looking forward to a very expensive holiday.

I do appreciate you responding, but if you have nothing constructive to contribute, I would be obliged if you would remain quiet.

    POPPYOSCAR - thankyou

You are talking absolute drivel - they have NOT broken any Law. What Law, what proof do you have ?
At the most there has been a misunderstanding.

In your puerile desperation to keep your ludicrous argument going you now accuse me of working for this dastardly company. (Which I don't)

GROW UP -and go away with your trolling............

I will never understand why some posters like to be so nasty.

If you do not like a thread, just move on to the next one.

MSE does state "be nice to all moneysavers" does it not?
  • Premium class or Economy it is still Thomson, hope the plane is OK on the day, otherwise long delays as they lack backup with nothing in reserve.
Last week flight from Turkey, minor problem resulted in 22hour delay stranded in Munich. Always a gamble travelling with Thomson............. whatever class.
