E.ON - switching to a different tariff
I'm an E.ON Customer on SaveOnline 4. I estimate my annual usage to be:
Gas: 7720Kwh
Electricity: 1675Kwh
I logged in to my E.ON account and clicked the "Switch Now" link and I've got the following options:
E.ON Track and Save 10
E.ON Fixed Price October 2013
E.ON EnergyOnline
E.ON SaveOnline 9
Age UK Fixed Price October 2013 (assume this is out since I'm only in my 20s
)
I'm thinking about opting for the E.ON Fixed Price October 2013 option.
Current Prices (from 13 September):
Electricity: 23.079p / 11.949p
Gas: 7.75005p / 3.37155p
E.ON Fixed Price October 2013:
Electricity: 25.5255p / 13.2195p
Gas: 8.57325p / 3.7296p
By my calculations, this should result in an annual increase in price from £677 to £749. But the peace of mind would be worth it and I can't see the prices ever going anywhere but up...
I'm confused though - do the prices advertised include the "6% Direct Debit Discount" and "2% Dual Fuel Direct Debit Discount"?
Thanks all.

Neiltc13, I have been through a very similar situation to you in that I was on SaveOnline 3. When EON announced their price increases recently I thought it was time to fix.
Being impressed with EON, their customer services and their website I was quite happy to stay with them.
I used an old bill that gave me my yearly consumption and put the figures into a comparison site. It said that Age UK fixed October 2013 was only going to cost me £16 a year more, so I completed the switch on the EON website.
I'm not that "age" either, it just means you won't get the cold weather payout!
EON sent me a bill and then put up my DD by £20 a month.
When I queried why, I was told that it was because I had switched to a more expensive tariff. So the comparison site reckoned it was £16 a year more expensive yet EON themselves thought it more like £240 a year more.
Although it is a fixed tariff and with it perhaps piece of mind I wasn't prepared for a rise of £20 a month.
I posted my concerns on this forum and have had great help from Malc an Helena, the EON reps.
I have now switched to SaveOnline 9 which is a slightly more expensive than SaveOnline 3 but at least it won't go up in September.
Have I made the right decision? Who knows. Only time will tell.:cool:0 -

Anyone can go on the Age UK tariffs you just miss out on a few additional benefits that you get if you're over 60/80. It might work out cheaper than the other Fixed Price one you're looking at as it's designed for low users and you fall in to that category. As others have said enter your usage on a comparison site as it'll be much quicker than doing it manually.0 -
Hi,
I just relocated to the UK from overseas, and I'm confused by the different tarriff packages. Where I come from, there's only one provider, one rate and one season so it's really simple.
The flat I'm staying at gets its electricity provided by E.on.
I'm currently on the E.On Gogreen plan, which charges ~29p per KWh.
E.On offers other tarriff packages, including a "Age UK Fixed Price October 2013" package which charges 20.9p per KWh. This sounds like a great deal, but i'm not sure what the terms & conditions are. In fact, I'm not even sure what I should look out for. I'm only going to be in the UK for about a year and 3 mths, so I don't want to tied to a multi-month contract.
I'm an average electricity user, I think. According to my meter, I've used 50 KWh in 2 weeks.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!0
