I've sold on Gumtree or Netmums if its kids clothes or equipment. I tried the FB page for our city but had no joy with one item I was offering for free. Will try again, I definitely wont be delivering anything, if they want it they can come and get it!

    Hi
Need some advice about my new little hobby. I am selling my childrens clothes and baby equipment on facebook so far locally and have done ok. My prices are usually charging up to half what i paid new but generally around £1 to £2 per item. I am fed up with delivering now as i was only charging £1 and people pay on deliverey and aren't in when i turn up ! So thinking of posting unless buyer wishes to collect.

What would be best way to do this. To advertise item and then put postage charge next to it, or to just put price including postage? I have worked this out and what would of cost the person £1 now seems to be £2.00 to £3.00 as i have to include paypal fee somewhere and postage cost. It is a hobby but also trying to bring in a few pounds to help with new clothes costs so don't want to give the stuff away! Ebay charge fees too so avoiding them.

Any ideas would be great thanks!

    :)

Could you offer p&P as an extra, with discounted postage for multiple purchases, you may find that people will then buy more than a couple of things.
I certainly wouldn't offer delivery, unless they were buying over a certain amount, £15 or something & charge a couple of quid to do it within a couple of miles. At a definite pre-arranged time.
The same with collection, I would give a couple of 1 hour time slots they can choose from when I would be at home anyway.

you could always get their number, and text them with a choice of say 3 time slots.. and all they have to do is text back "1", "2" or "3"

Then you can maximise the efficiency of your delivery times, and make the most of the fact you're out in the car using your petrol
