You should be able to show a bank statement where money was taken out or a credit card statement wich ever you used in the original purchase.
They annoy you these insurance guys, Yes of course we all keep each and every single receipt we ever get, idiots the lot of them !0 -
always paid cash for the items as the tackle shops give you better discount for the items and for the smaller bits i never kept the receipts

Well surely you will have a bank statement that shows money withdrawn from the cashpoint ?
If not then its argue with the insurers time, I had it with a tv set and as I didnt have a receipt for it they created and tried not to pay up, I just persisted with them via email and phone and stated to them that mine was paid cash and it was 2 years previous so how would I have a receipt still, looked back and found a bank statement with money drawn from cash points and gave them that and they paid up.0 -
cheers mate will have a trawl through statements but most of it was over 6 yrs ago just one or two were in the past few yrs0

It is possible for an insurance company to decline if you can't produce proof of ownership. That can be receipts photos etc.
But the Ombudsman require that the take a reasonable approach, so wanting a receipt from something of a high value brought recently is reasonable. But it wouldn't be reasonable for them to expect a receipt from 6 years ago. And most people would have got rid of bank statement too after that time.
Chances are it'll be fine.0
