I've used priceminister twice before, and was charges £1.25 extra both times on my debit card.
Sent angry emails, but they wouldn't refund.

    Won't use priceminister again.

did you have a natwest card by any chance?

i was caught out by this a few months back.

Is there a mailing list to find out about the warehouse sales, please?

Apparantly they email existing customers about warehouse sales, but I haven't received an email for the last two. They do have my correct email address. Someone from the Book people is ringing me back to sort out why I haven't been notified by email - I saw the last one advertised in the St. Helens Star, but I missed the previous one completely. At the last sale, my best bargain was a set of twenty paperbacks (about A4 size, landscape). They covered all sorts of topics from camouflaged animals to things with wheels, time to water. Publisher's retail price is £5.99 each. I paid £10 and my son loves them - he has special needs and is 13, but they are aimed at younger children aged about 5-8, I would say.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wonderwise-Collection-Books-Retail-%C2%A3119-80/dp/B001LEDWQS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313268594&sr=8-1

Just a tip - it gets really busy at the warehouse sales, so I avoid taking the kids. There aren't enough trollies either, so I take a plastic box thing on wheels that I bought from Focus last year.
  • My entire order has been cancelled by the seller - looks like the prices were a mistake. Should have known it would be too good to be true! Does say I have not been charged for the order - although this remains to be seen as amount is currently pending from my bank account. Hope you get your books OP!

    Mine too

Status: Purchase cancelled by the seller

    Purchase cancelled by the seller

Following your order, the seller informed PriceMinister that this item was no longer available.

You have not been charged with the payment for this item, including P&P.

A warning has been sent to the seller so that he should now make sure all of his items are available.

I wonder how much this seller has had cancelled? Why would he have books listed so cheap if he wasn't prepared to sell them?

Right - even though they haven't taken the £23 from my bank, the available funds are £23.00 less than the balance. What does this mean? Are they trying to take it?

Means they've earmarked it. They have to do this before they take it, the money is 1). requested for from one side and then 2).taken from that same side, whilst 3). allowed from the other and only when both happen does the money get taken from your account.
With this stage the bank have allowed the money to be taken, but the company have not requested to take it so it stays in limbo.

It may take a bit of time (hours/days/weeks) but once the bank realise the company don't want the money anymore they'll take the earmark off and it'll be as normal in your account.

    Thank you.

Don't the company lift the earmarking them - that seems unfair?
  • If I am not mistaken, if it doesnt come out of your account within five working days it 'goes back into your account' if that makes sense?
