I received a letter in the post from ebico stating that prices will rise on the 14/9/11 electricity will rise by a average of 12.2% and gas by 19.4%

In wales standard electricity will rise to to 15.82 ppu inc vat and gas will rise to 4.79 ppu inc vat:(

I have a electric heat pump as my main heating and that eats electricity so time for extra jumpers this winter:(

Had my letter today as well, they do state however that they are now capped until at least March 2012

The forecast for my annual energy cost, gas & electric, at the new price is £607 [with gas CH & cooking] so as low user, living in one of the milder parts of the country, it not a big problem to me luckily

Not too bad for South Wales at average usage (3300kWh/year) it's the same as having a 14.4p a day standing charge depending on what you compare the rate to. EDF and Npower are cheaper than Ebico but they have not yet announced price increases. Of course if one was able to then it's always been better to join a plan that is duel fuel, managed online and paid by monthly direct debit. The best tariff is SoL23 from Npower charging 10.13p/unit and has a 28.25p/day standing charge for a total annual bill of £395 saving £127 on Ebico's new prices.

standard plans - pay on receipt of bill - south wales
    EDF...............13.18p (13.8p/day s/c) £485/year
    Npower............14.23p (6.85p/day s/c) £494/year
    Ebico.............15.82p (0.00p/day s/c) £522/year
    Atlantic/SWALEC...13.83p (18.3p/day s/c) £523/year
    British Gas.......13.31p (26.9p/day s/c) £536/year
    E-on..............12.93p (35.6p/day s/c) £555/year
    Scottish Power....13.52p (39.3p/day s/c) £590/year

If anyone in south wales is stuck on a prepayment meter then Spark Energy has a fixed 12 month tariff for 11.02p/unit and a daily standing charge of 10.07p for an annual bill of £401. I'd get on to that quickly before the price goes up. It seems a good tariff at only £6 a year more expensive than the cheapest direct debit option available.

I have been with Ebico for years never had problems but needs must & I to have looked @ changing EDF fixed 2014 is my personal choice, its all a bit of a gamble will prices fall or continue to rise & being an old cynic I think they will rise :o.
The only thing to Ebico's credit I would add is theres no standing daily charge so you only pay for what you use, still done my research here gone through Money supermarket & should get £30 cash back a month after the changeover.
Great site Martin dont know what we'd all do without you:T
Theres only two rules to remember
