So we moved into our flat 7th Feb 2011, the term was for 6 months and the ll was to renew after then.

Are we now on a rolling tenancy? On some documentation under 'tenancy extension' it says 'we will write to you approximatley two months from the end of the tenancy to ask if you want to extend .... subject to your landlord's consent'

Should we do nothing or contact the la?

Out of interest who is the agency you're renting from? (if you're not happy posting it on the forum then feel free to pm me) because the agency I currently rent from are stringent with such things as extending tenancies, they write to tenants 2 months before (as you stated your tenancy agreement said the same) and they then request yet more money for extending the tenancy (aka printing off/changing the dates on an existing tenancy!) which obviously isn't justified as the law states you can go onto a stat periodic and you don't have to pay a penny for that.

So my opinion is don't contact the la because you're already on a stat periodic.
