Any Ideas?

Options
Hi im fairly old to this website but for some bizzarre reason have never seen this board before.....DOH!!
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what i could use
1x bag of porridge oats
1x half bag of rice crispies
I dont mind buying other things to go with them. I was having a clear out and my kids have decided that they no longer like porridge or rice crispies and i dont just want to throw them away.
was hoping you guys may have some ideas?

I am going to have a go at this over the weekend - am not sure if there are any recepies on here. My OH and DD love the expensive honey nut cluster type cereal and I think this might substitute for a fraction of the cost. I am having a mini mould crisis (see recent post) but will focus my mind on finding out what you need.

I was going to say flapjacks and nutty meringues (not nuts but rice crispies) get the kids to make them

I agree with newlywed aswell, or any type of oat biscuits. Chocolate crispies are cheap enough with value choc from ASDA/Tescos which is about 25p. Can make a tray and cut into pieces or in fairy cake cases. Could use up some of the Xmas chocs if the kids have loads, they are lovely with Mars bars which my kids won't eat as they are, or Snickers if they are allowed nuts.
One day I might be more organised...........

Snap! (and cracle and pop  :rotfl: )

Oat muffins are delish, too. We often substitute them for cereal at breakfast. Think there's a recipe on the Recipe Thread.

    OAT BISCUITS
    200 ml regular rolled oats
150 ml soft brown sugar (firmly packed)
    150 ml flour
    ½ tsp baking power
    pinch of salt
    100 g butter
    1 egg
Melt the butter. Combine the dry ingredients, add the melted butter and the egg and mix until smooth. Form the dough into long, flat bars, wrap them in plastic and place in refrigerator to harden.

Slice the bars in about 2 cm wide biscuits and place on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Bake the biscuits at 175 °C for about 10 minutes or until golden.

Recipe for oat biccys, tried them myself, very nice :)

Oat muffins are yummy too :)

Another idea for the oats is to make up a batch of crumble mixture (oats/flour/sugar/butter or marg) and freeze it. Then the next time you have a cooked fruit glut, you're all ready to rock with the crumble topping! :)
