I received a mail shot telling me that i had won a prize which was backed by local businesses, i phoned the number ( which was at national rate) and quoted the ref on the prize ticket, i was then told that i had won three years membership at a fitness club called Energie worth a total of £750, the club only a couple of miles from where i live, i was told also that there may be a fee for use of lockers which i thought was fair enough, anyway i passed the voucher on to my son who went to the club and presented it to one of the sales people, now this is where i got really annoyed, he signed my son up to the club for 2 years with the third year being optional at a cost of £22.50 per month !!!! this was for service contribution ???.
I wrote to Associated Members Club who are dealing with this but the reply i got didn't answer my questions, one of which is this...if i was to join this club without any prize or gift it would cost me approx £32 per month with no extra charges for service contributions???
That means that the value of my prize has been greatly devalued as my son is only saving approx £10 per month on the normal membership fee, i cant get an answer on this point but i feel we have been misled over this so called prize, can anyone suggest what i can do, as, to be quite honest, i want to cancel this membership as i feel that we have been conned.
Many thanks.
