Buying from AliExpress.com

  • It would have cost £170 in the UK. It cost (with duties/VAT) just under £135.

As someone said, the description of goods on the package from somewhere like China means nothing as they are probably trying to avoid excess customs charges (if any). If they stated "tablet pc" or similar it is a lot more likely you would get heavy customs charges.

Sounds like a lot of hard work you've experienced. I think you can either pay the customs charges and take the parcel (as you will never know if this is the correct item until you do this) or just do a chargeback with the card used (credit card of course as online bought??) I would never suggest doing a chargeback until you have tried everything possible with the seller to resolve the issue. Have you contacted them directly as it is their job to chase this up, not yours?

At least I have seen the package, so I am now fairly sure it contains the correct item.

As I have paid via escrow, I would have to contact the escrow agent before attempting any charge-back.

I have already paid the customs duty - I think it was only VAT plus whatever DHL for dealing with that payment.

Will just await delivery tomorrow and see what it contains! No communication from the seller so far - so that is somewhat disappointing.

My neighbours granddaughter got married recently and I want to take show my neighbours all the photos from the wedding by connection the tablet PC to their TV. I just hope the photos are still available on the photographer's website.

Hope you get it sorted :)
