Please bear with me....(I have posted on Cosumer rights and then saw this thread)
To cut a long story short, I run a business from home. I ordered some stock from a supplier who I have had a long relationship with. The stock never arrived but the courier company sent an email saying it had been signed for and the name of the person who signed.
I phoned up my suppliers and they contacted the courier who said that they had delivered somewhere else by mistake. The courier then called my husband trying to get him to pick it up as the people he delivered it to might not hold it but I said no as I wanted to inspect it fully before signing.
The courier told my husband he would be back the next day to sort it out. He didn't show up and I was going away for 2 weeks and so I called my supplier and they said they would sort it out.
A week into my holiday, the supplier called to ask if I had picked it up as the courier was claiming that he had been back and I had picked the goods up. I said not the case, supplier believed me and I was refunded. they said they would sort it out.
Today my 4 children and a friend were in the living room and there is a knock at the door. A man was just staring at me when I answered so I asked if he was Ok. He said he was not and I suddenly got a barrage of abuse. He was shouting in the street calling me a thief and saying he was getting the police involved. I told him I had not picked it up but he said that he had to pay out of his own pocket and It was because I was a thief etc.... He was claiming the people he delivered it to were his witnesses etc
I finally got rid of him and went into the living room where my eldest daughter was crying because the police were coming to get mummy!
I phoned my suppliers straight away and they are refusing to use the company again. I also called the company and they were disgusted but said they would have to put it through to the depot and took my number. I have not heard back from them.
I am also thinking about making my own police complaint. I was thinking they might turn up on my doorstep and save me a trip to the police station!
I am just very sad that this could have an impact on my relationship with my supplier and my neighbours. And taking my daughters friend home made a very interesting explanation for her mum too.

This sounds very upsetting for you (and frightening for your children). But, you know what? He was in the wrong - not you. Why should it affect your relationship with the supplier or your neighbours? The supplier has refused to work with this courier again, and surely your neighbours know you well enough not to be affected by this?
This is very horrible but I think it would be best if you tried to put it behind you. What will you realistically achieve by complaining to the police? People say and do bad things all the time and sometimes we're unlucky enough to be on the receiving end. Try to forget about it. Anything else you do now will just prolong the stress and upset."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Can only offer sympathy.
It seem as if your supplier has done the right thing, at least.0 -
I agree with the above they were absolutely in the wrong, sure mistakes are made in every company, we're only human afterall but what he did was very unprofessional and not right at all. Glad your suppliers are understanding and helpful at least thats ones positive!0

I wonder if he'd have shouted at me being a big bloke and all? - Doubt it somehow - I had my own business and we used to use a supplier with the most obnoxious driver you could meet, always complaining - he'd say he'd tried to deliver at say 4.50pm and we were closed - we were open till 6. Eventually I contacted the firm and he got the boot (I wasn't the only customer hacked off) - The driver paid us a visit saying "had we complained about him?" - I looked him in the eye and Yes we bloody well had and if he wanted to keep a job in future he should change his belligerent ways.
Your supplier is better off without this chap - they should thank you for helping improve their image.0 -
Yes get the police involved its unexceptable behaviour..
funny that paulsad ive never had a courier/delivery person shout at me even when he left an expensive digital camera in my binhole as we call it up north without a signature and it went missing or was it even left there?? a card was posted i got on to the supplier and the courier came round asking if id got it and where the card said it was left.. i think if id of been smaller than i am he would of hurled abuse etc

In your place I certainly would contact the police. This cretin has come to your door once using threatening behaviour and now the courier he works for has lost the suppliers trade,if he is also sacked for all this he may also blame you on that.I dont wish to alarm you but let the police know the whole situation including him coming to your door and if nothing else if you have to contact them again they will know why.counting down the time I got left.:beer:0
