What kind of wires/leads so i need to do this?

Is it complicated??

Is it scary?

Is it effective?

Is it expensive?

    Hi,

Its reasonably straightforward, not expensive, and works well enough

    What laptop do you have?

    what TV do you have?

what connections are there on each ? hdmi etc?
  • I connect my laptop to my tv with a hdmi cable. This carries both picture and sound. An average quality cable cost £22 on amazon (cheaper options are available).

Which my old laptop, which was not HDMI compatible, I had a VGA cable (the one you connect a desktop pc to a monitor with) and a stereo cable (like a double ended headphone cable)

Before I had my new tv (which didn't have a VGA connector) I used a peculiar cable with VGA at one end and a scart at the other, and a stereo thingy cable too....

HDMI and VGA cables are easy to come across, the third type can be found in maplins and other stores http://www.maplin.co.uk/scart-to-vga-syncblaster-cable-37141?c=froogle&u=37141&t=module

    Look on the back
  • Have a look on your laptop and TV for a port like the one on the Left here labeled HDMI. (it looks similar to a USB port but notice the bottom has tapered corners). If both tv and laptop do then it will be very simple. Just buy a HDMI cable, get a cheap one, (the expensive ones are exactly the same quality), I would suggest ebay and make sure you get the correct length to reach from the laptop to TV.

If you do not have HDMI, it is still simple but will need to determine which connectors you have.
