Reclaiming PPI from Volkswagen Finance

hi there
really need some help and where to go from here.
I was mis sold PPI from Volkswagen.
I contacted them (as per letter on your website) and they replied:
"we have spoken to FSA's office, your alleged claim does not fall within the Ombudsman's jurisdiction.
With this in mind, I am afraid to advise you that we will not consider any settlement with regard to your alleged claim for the following reasons:-
The insurance product you took out was purchased prior to the Group being regulated (14 Jan, 2005).
We also note that your complaint is regarding a sale in May 2003, Dovercourt was owned by Lloyds TSB not Lookers PLC. Lookers PLC did not acquire it until 2007 and therefore do not accept responsibility."
Where do I go from here? Should I contact the FOS?
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Hi there
Yes ring the FOS and explain, they will probably suggest the underwriter/insurer avenue as they have done others in the same position.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi there, you need to send a letter of mis sell to the insurer,if they come back with a no,the FOS will help you with this.
Give FOS a ring and see if they know who the insurer may be,if not then ask the company that sent you the letter.

This makes interesting reading as I had finance with them but cannot find my paperwork.
I suppose I have no chance in claiming as this is more than 6 years ago, unless it was their standard procedure to charge it.Mortgage Feb 2015 £178,500 END 2043!!
MFW 2015 £100 /£1000
Watch this space, my MF end date will tumble!!0 -

Do not worry about the 6 years, and besides not everyone were aware of the mis selling until recently, so if you were to make a reclaim and this applies to you, give it a shot with the reasons you have and make them aware you have only recently became aware of the mis selling of PPI.
Many have still been successful in making reclaims from the 90's.
If you don't try you will never know.:D;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
