Reasonable length of Time - is 2 years too long?

Hello

I brought a refurbished apple ipod nano from Tesco back in June 2009
It has not been used too much a few months back it just died (frozen), it does not respond at all now.
As per consumer act a product should last a “ Reasonable length of Time”. I wonder if anyone can advise if 2 years is too long or I have got any chance to get it fixed/exchanged?
If I do have a chance, please can you advise if I should write to tesco or apple?
Has anyone done it before, please? what was the outcome?

Thanks

2 years seems entirely reasonable for a refurbished, Ipod Nano.

You're probably more likely to get a more-positive response from Apple than Tesco, even if it's just a decent part-ex deal for a new device.

Legally, your contract is with Tesco, and under SOGA you can make a claim within 6 years. Although refurbished, they've sold it to you to be fit for exactly the same purpose as a brand new model. The difference is that now its past 6 months old, the onus is on you to prove its a manufacturing fault as opposed the them having to prove its not.
For the sake of simplicity you might have an easier time going back to Apple with it, though.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

To clarify for ops sake.. although you can bring a claim within 6 years doesn't mean the product must last 6 years.

I personally would also say 2 years is reasonable considering its age and the fact its refurbished.

Being fit for purpose isn't the issue, it's whether the item is of satisfactory qualiity. The reasonable time period for a refurbished product may not be the same as a new one.
