So everyone will end up with a player that supports both anyway :T Then I guess the publishers choose which format to release their films on.
That sounds great.
Takes away the compitetion element i guess0 -

But you have to look at the outlay price of nearly £500 if reports are correct for the selling price of the PS3 60gb
Rumours of the version 2 xbox 360 "Zephyr" are going round still and apprantly it is going to have a built in HD DVD drive along with 120gb hard drive and HDMI slot.
We will have to wait a while to see which format wins as ultimatly it will be decided by the consumer as to which format they want to invest in0 -
Maybe it is better if we didnt get the HD-DVD and the extras on lauch because of possible bugs.0

The only minor bug I have heard about on the HD DVD drive is that the sound is slightly low when playing through a 5.1 system but Microsoft are going to release an update via xbox live to sort that out
Have not heard of any other problems with the HD DVD drive and mine is going fine0 -

He will love it if he's into his movies
The good thing with HD DVD's is that they contain no region coding at the minute so you can buy any HD DVD's from America etc... and they will work in it
Have you got a 5.1 surround sound system with an optical connection as this is needed to get 5.1 surround sound from the unit, if not their is a Pioneer system on offer @ play.com for £149.99 (£300 direct from Pioneer) and you can send your receipt off for 2 free xbox 360 games0 -

No worries
Some places for HD DVD's that seem to be the cheapest at the moment, avoid the highstreet shops as most of them including HMV sell for £22+

Also, dell have a pretty healthy share of the PC market - they're in the blu-ray camp.
Apple being team blu-ray could help - all the apple media kiddies will get hold of their new mac with blu-ray built in and see no need for hddvd.
Also, between mac, dell, hp and sony themselves, the notebook market will be largely supporting blu-ray.
Like the sound of this "Zephyr" thing though - will have to look into this!0
